Clifford D. Boylen, 74, died Saturday, October 22, 2016, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Joan M. (Hull) Boylen, his wife of 39 years.
Clifford was born April 16, 1942, in Philippi, W. Va., the son of the late Odie D. and Virginia B. (House) Boylen.
Clifford attended Emory U.M. Church in New Oxford and retired in 2008 from Hoke's Mill in Abbottstown after 34 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, going to casinos, traveling, playing cards, working jigsaw puzzles, and was an avid NASCAR fan.
In addition to his wife Joan, Clifford is survived by a stepdaughter, Michele L. Jendras of McSherrystown; a stepson, Mitchell E. Harris and his wife Kimberly of Abbottstown; 3 grandchildren, Christian K. Harris, Taylor L. Jendras, and Kelsey A. Harris; 5 brothers, Frank Boylen and Arnold Boylen, both of OH, Thomas Boylen of FL, and Samuel Boylen and Russell Boylen, both of WV; and 2 sisters, Dorothy Mayle and Cora Mayle, both of WV. He was predeceased by a daughter, Jodi M. Boylen; a grandson, Tyler C. Harris; two brothers, James and Charlie Boylen; and a sister, Mary Boylen.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Emory U.M. Church, 35 Center Square, New Oxford, with Pastor Brian Doyle officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
