Claudenia Carmen Burgemeister, of Timonium, MD, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024, at the age of 94. Born on the 4th of July, 1930, on Maryland's Eastern Shore, Claudenia lived a long and fulfilling life devotedto her family, career, and community.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband G. Wayne Burgemeister, and her parents, George and Rosalie (Lynch), and a brother George Wayne Carmen.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Lisa Wildasin, and her husband, Dan, of Oak Island, NC; her granddaughters Carmen Zoe Wildasin and Colby Blaine Black, and husband Gavin; as well as a sister in law, Judy Carmen and her family.
Claudenia earned her Bachelor's Degree from James Madison University and later pursued a Master's Degree. She began her career as a Physical Education teacher in Baltimore County Schools, where she inspired countless students with her dedication to education. Later in life, she transitioned into public relations at Marriott's Hunt Valley Inn, bringing her enthusiasm and organizational talents to the hospitality industry. Claudenia also gave back to her community through fundraising efforts for Essex Community College, helping to support educational opportunities for students in the Baltimore area.
She and Wayne shared a love of sailing and spent most weekends on the Chesapeake Bay with their daughter and sailing friends during their early years. After Wayne's retirement in 1985, they traveled extensively together, visiting over 25 countries. Claudenia also supported Wayne's involvement with the construction of the Pride of Baltimore II and accompanied its crew on numerous voyages following its commissioning. Her legacy endures through the lives she touched as an educator and the cherished memories she created with her family. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
The Funeral Service celebrating Claudenia's life will be held at the St. Paul Lutheran Church on Kurtz Ave, January 25 at 11:00 AM. A reception to follow at Mercy Ridge at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Claudenia's memory to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial fund. Inurnment will be on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Abbottstown, PA at 12 PM.
