Obituary

Christopher M. Phillips, 70 of Hampton, affectionately known as "Pap" or "Pops" passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at 1:42PM with his loving family by his side after a brief illness.  He was born on September 17, 1954 to Glenn W. and Gloria A. Klunk Phillips and proud to live "along the creek" just outside of Hampton as a child and teen years, where countless lifetime friendships were made.

Chris attended grade school at Paradise Catholic School and graduated from Bermudian Springs High School as the President of the Class of 1972.  Chris was a life member and held many officer positions in the Hampton Fire Company (UHL) and was a Past President of the Adams County Volunteer Firefighters and Fire Chiefs Associations. Chris was a life member of the New Oxford Social and Athletic Club and a member of the Knights Of Columbus in McSherrystown and East Berlin VFW.

Chris was a handyman with many talents! Work was his life and it started as a teen where he picked strawberries for .10 cents a basket at King's Berry Farm, was a lifeguard at Hagerman's Pool, and worked at Stimer's Lane Service, all in Hampton, ashe had a huge love for this little town!!

In adulthood, Chris worked in the Welding and Construction Industries at Allis-Chalmers, Pizzagalli, Ganflec, Lobar, but his longest tenure was with Kinsley Construction as a Superintendent. Chris was simple and humble, but meticulous and loyal to his work and often special requested by customers to be the leader of their projects.

Chris loved to work on small gas engines and had the talent to build or fix almost anything, working with his diligent hands and creative mind, usually doing everyone else's work before his own. He was the first person called when a friend needed a handyman or a tool. Chris and his family built a home in the country with their bare hands and took every night and weekend for a year to do it! He was greatly loved by his family and more loyal friends than you could imagine!

Chris loved Sprint Car and NASCAR Racing, Football, Hunting, Golfing with his buddies, his Pets, particularly his German Shepherd, Kendra, cutting firewood, and anything outside!

Chris is proud of his two sons, Jason and Tony, daughter-in-law Angie of Hampton and two grandchildren, Allie and Anthony. Chris had an immense love for his sisters, Shelly Phillips-Flickinger and her husband, Tony and Tina Phillips-Smith; nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his twin sisters, Faye and Mae Phillips and brother Brian in 2022.
