Chester E. Chronister, Sr.
York Springs
Chester E. Chronister, Sr., 98, died Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Gettysburg Hospital. He was the husband of Leona E. (Sowers) Chronister, who died January 23, 1998.
Chester was born September 26, 1918, in New Oxford, the son of the late Curtis W. and Cora A. (Freed) Chronister.
Chester attended the Upper Conewago Church of The Brethren in Abbottstown, and was a self-employed painter. He was one of the founders of Heidlersburg Fire Company, and was a former Huntington Twp. Supervisor.
Chester is survived by two daughters, Carole E. Aldinger and her husband, Stanley of York Springs, and Nancy E. Showers and her husband, James of Aspers; two sons, Kenneth E. Chronister and his companion, Wanda Griffie, and Jack E. Chronister, all of York Springs; eight grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; ten step great-grandchildren; a brother, Walter Chronister of Mechanicsburg; and a sister, Nadine Simpson of Hanover. He was predeceased by two sons, James E. Chronister and Chester E. Chronister, Jr., two sisters, Ethel Altland and Dorothy Weaver; and four brothers, John, Woodrow, William and Fred Chronister.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford. Burial will be in New Oxford Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the York Springs Fire Company, 312 N. Main St, York Springs, PA 17372.
