Charles E. Walter, 87, passed Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at WellSpan York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Lorraine J. (Brown) Walter, his wife of 58 years, who passed January 8, 2017.
Charles was born December 3, 1937 in Covington, the son of the late Lester M. and Rosella M. (Cleveland) Walter.
Charles was a member of Pinchot Park Assembly of God, Pinchot Park Lions Club, and was a well-loved singer, and sang in several gospel groups. He loved to play the harmonica, and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Charles is survived by six daughters; Patricia A. Schenck and her husband Donald of York, Teresa D. Winter of York, Michelle E. Keller and her husband Harvey, Jr, of Thomasville, Yvonne S. Thompson and her husband Eric of Dover, Nolita Y. Kuhns and her husband Tim of Middleburg, and Renita L. Brown and her husband Tim of Hanover, 24 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, a great great grandson, four brothers, Gerald Walter of NC, James Walter of Williamsport, John Walter of Blossburg, and Joseph Walter of Platte City, MO, and three sisters, Peggy Miller of Platte City, MO, Ruth Zeller of Williamsport and Becky Reardon of York. He was predeceased by two brothers, Carlton and Samuel Walter, and a sister, Rose Welsh.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 11 AM at Pinchot Park Assembly of God, 2755 Rosstown Rd, Wellsville, with Pastor Harry Buhrman and Pastor Tim Brown officiating. Burial will be in Red Run Church Cemetery, East Berlin. A viewing will be held at the church on Friday from 10 AM until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Pinchot Park Assembly of God, or to Mt. Royal U.M. Church, 6451 Old Carlisle Rd, Dover, PA 17315.
