Charles H. "Charlie" Walker, Jr., 88, died Friday, June 17, 2016 at the Brethren Home Community, New Oxford. He was the husband of Gladys P. (Reindollar) Walker, who died April 6, 2012, his wife of 71 years.
Charlie was born November 27, 1927 in Somerset, the son of the late Charles H. and Mary Jane (Caldwell) Walker. Charlie was employed with the Alwine Brick Co. in New Oxford for over 50 years. He was a devoted family member who enjoyed spending time with his beloved family. Charlie enjoyed woodworking and tinkering in his garage.
Charlie is survived by three daughters, Judy A. Plonk and her husband, William of New Oxford, Joan M. Adams and her husband, Dean of New Oxford, and Pamela K. Dunbar and her husband, Lance of York; four grandchildren, James Wentz, Jordan Adams, Mark Redding and Matthew Redding; six great-grandchildren, Amy Lindner, Dillon Wentz, Jared Wentz, Ava Redding, Ellie Redding and Veda Redding; two great-great-grandchildren, Hailey Lindner and Ethan Lindner; one sister Darlene Deshong of Gettysburg. He was predeceased by a grandson, Jerry Wentz and a sister, Shirley Walker.
Funeral Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Serving as pallbearers will be James Wentz, Jordan Adams, Mark Redding, Matthew Redding, Dillon Wentz, and Jared Wentz. There will be no viewing. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Brethren Home Community Good Samaritan Fund, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, PA., 17350.
