Bonnie Ann Showvaker, 61, entered eternal rest on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Hanover, Pennsylvania, and was the beloved daughter of Barbara A. (Miller) Bixler and the late Glenn E. Bixler. She was the devoted wife of Tracy L. Showvaker, with whom she shared over 40 years of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Bonnie was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Gettysburg, where she found comfort, fellowship, and a sense of community.

Bonnie was a lifelong learner who valued education and the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others. She graduated from Delone Catholic high school and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree. She continued her education at York College of Pennsylvania, where she earned her Master’s Degree in Education. For 35 years, Bonnie dedicated her career to the Littlestown School District, where she had the privilege of teaching and supporting children of all ages. Teaching was much more than a career to Bonnie; it was something she truly loved. She cared deeply about her students and took great pride in watching them learn, grow, and succeed. She was also a familiar and enthusiastic presence at countless school sporting events, always willing to help wherever she was needed. Whether working security, operating the scoreboard, selling tickets, or simply lending a helping hand, Bonnie was there. In addition to her work in the Littlestown School District, Bonnie shared her passion for education as an adjunct professor at Harrisburg Area Community College for more than 20 years, touching the lives of countless students and future educators. After 35 years of love, dedication, and service to her students and school community, Bonnie retired from teaching not because she was ready to leave, but because she had to. She did so with a heavy heart, as teaching was something she truly loved, and her students, colleagues, and school community had become such an important part of her life.

Outside of her career, Bonnie enjoyed many of life’s simple pleasures. She loved swimming, shopping, reading, cooking, and baking, and she especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Some of her happiest moments were the simple ones spent sitting outside with her husband, watching baseball games and enjoying each other’s company. She thrived at social gatherings and never met a stranger. Bonnie had a warm and welcoming personality and a special ability to make people feel comfortable, valued, and loved. She was a loyal friend who was always willing to listen, lend a hand, or be there for someone when they needed her.
In addition to her mother and husband, Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Katie Wagaman and husband Stephen of Aspers; her son, Thomas Showvaker and wife Jill of Littlestown; her siblings, Donald Bixler and wife Sherry, Donna Bixler, Jeanne Dubs and husband Dru, and Robert Bixler; and her beloved grandchildren, Elyse, Ryder, Aubrey, Breydon, Presley, and Lincoln. She is also survived by many extended family members, friends, former colleagues, and students whose lives she touched throughout her years.

A public Celebration of Life will be held at Littlestown High School Auditorium on 9/20/2026 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and all relatives, friends, former colleagues, students, and members of the community are welcome to attend. A private Memorial Service and Celebration of Life for immediate family and close friends will be held at a later date, by invitation.
