Bonnie Lee (Andrews) Rohrbach born on 1 January 1942 passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026 in Abbottstown, PA. Born in Altoona, PA to Tom and Joanna Andrews, Bonnie graduated from Emmaus High School in 1959 and then earned her RN degree in 1962 from the Reading Hospital School of Nursing. Bonnie met her husband-to-be, Edwin H. Rohrbach, at a hospital students’ quarterly dance when she asked him to dance a Sadie Hawkins dance. They danced for the next 63 plus years following their February 9, 1963 marriage in the Emmaus Moravian Church.

She then accompanied her groom around the world from 1963-1980 as he served as a Foreign Service officer for the U.S. State Department, beginning in Kathmandu, Nepal. During that two-year assignment Bonnie gave birth to their first child, Gretchen, in the missionary hospital in Kathmandu. Bonnie also volunteered her nursing expertise to establish a health screening facility for the Nepalese and used her English language skills to teach adult Nepalese students English. She later lived in Monrovia Liberia, Beirut, Lebanon, Caracas, Venezuela and Brasilia, Brazil. Her nursing education and skills were called upon frequently throughout those assignments both in small Embassy medical teams and, also, together with a Brazilian physician, they established a small clinic for expectant mothers outside of Brasilia. Bonnies’ strong Portuguese language skills learned while in Brazil were critically important in that effort. As had been the Spanish skills learned and used while in Venezuela.

Returning to the US in 1980 and living in Sterling, Va, Bonnie briefly returned to her nursing profession, but then began a 14-year career with the CIA where she provided support to various agency elements and served as an analyst in the Counterterrorism Center. She received numerous commendations throughout her nursing, volunteering and government assignments.

Bonnie’s actions and activities abroad always exemplified the finest of her nations’ values and qualities while also revealing what all Americas’ patriots are about. She was an ambassadress without the title, a truly exemplary representative for her country.

Cooking and heating with kerosene, washing clothes by hand with water pumped by hand to a rooftop storage tank, boiling and filtering water for cooking and drinking all became part of everyday necessities to live and work in several evolving nations. Learning and loving bridge provided wonderful times with friends old and new throughout her life. Along with husband Ed, they later ran a duplicate bridge group in Hanover, PA for several years.

But her most rewarding and life fulfilling times were spent raising her three greatest blessings. Children, Gretchen, Heidi and Brian. That led to six grandchildren, Matthew, Chelsea and Zachery (deceased) Vannoy, Courtney (Rohrbach) Perka and husband Kyle of Sterling, VA., Joanna (Rohrbach) Hall and husband Cullen of Minot, ND, and Alec Rohrbach of Sterling, VA. And three – soon to be four – great grandchildren, Steven and Lily Hall and Henry Perka.

Bonnie's strong Christian faith and values taught by her parents and grandparents on both sides, William and Martha Andrews and Harry and Ada Herzog, all deceased, were at the core of her being and her bedrock of strength. While her Christian beliefs were sometimes under duress or scrutiny while serving abroad, she always met those challenges and persevered. While living in VA and later in Abbottstown she served first SUMC in Sterling, and then EUCC in Abbottstown in various capacities, further demonstrating her commitment to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Sisters Gayle Taylor and Poet husband Dr. Robert “Redhawk” Moore of Monticello and Diana Andrews of Emmaus, PA, along with several wonderful nieces and nephews were always present in her heart. Their love, compassion, understanding and more were forever present.

Her husband Edwin, more than blessed since their first dance, embraces having had Bonnie as the most loving, caring, faithful, beautiful bride ever. Their souls were and remain perfectly matched.

Friends and Relatives are invited to attend Bonnie’s viewing and visitation at Feiser Funeral Home 302 Lincoln HWY W New Oxford, PA 17350 on Friday, August 8, 2026 from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. Mrs. Rohrbach’s Memorial service will follow on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 from 1:00p.m. to 2:00p.m. at Feiser Funeral Home 302 Lincoln HWY W New Oxford, PA 17350
