Obituary

Annette Marie Boyer, 77, passed away peacefully and entered into God’s eternal care on April 18, 2026, wrapped in the love of her family and friends.
Born on January 18,1949 and raised York Springs, PA she was the eldest daughter of the late Wendell & Jeanne Lehman. Annette was widowed at a young age after the passing of the love of her life, Barry, at just 48. Never remarrying, her devotion to him never wavered and she carried his love with her always. She was a proud and devoted mother, a cherished Gram to her grandchildren, and a loving GG to her great-grandchildren. Though she held many roles throughout her life, these were the sacred titles she held closest to her heart.

Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, trusting in God’s plan through every season of her life. A devoted servant to the Lord, she leaned on the Bible for guidance through both storms and sunshine, living out her beliefs through kindness, generosity, and service to others. She gave freely of her time, and throughout her lifetime volunteered with far too many organizations to mention. A true servant leader at heart that humbly and quietly impacted many lives, while shying away from the spotlight.

Annette was a woman of remarkable independence and work ethic. She was a trained teacher but chose to be a stay-at-home mother. During that time, she owned her own craft store, taught 4-H and Sunday School, and provided for her family with gardening, sewing, and creative crafting. In many ways, she was ahead of her time as an influencer long before it became part of popular culture. Later, she and Barry purchased Boyer’s Furniture Store, the family business, proudly becoming a certified Maytag repair person. Even in later years, she never fully retired, faithfully serving for nearly 20 years as the District Church of the Brethren bookkeeper. Overall, she had a full life built through hard work, determination, and resilience.
She had a deep love for travel and adventure, seeing the world in ways many only dream of, visiting China, Russia, Italy, Australia, Africa and most of Europe, as well as many states in the US. Along the way, she formed lasting friendships and created cherished memories that spanned continents. Her most precious memories reminding her of how blessed she was to live in this country called America. She also held a special love for the beach. Year after year, the waves called her back to the ocean, where she found peace, renewal, and joy in God’s creation.

At home, Annette found joy in the simple and meaningful things. She was an avid gardener and canner, wonderful cook, and was especially known for her molasses cookies, which brought comfort and smiles to those lucky enough to enjoy them. She was a collector and had a remarkable way of always being prepared, and able to search through her ‘stuff’ to find just what was needed, right when it was needed, earning her a loving comparison to the 1980’s TV character MacGyver. A true puzzle solver, she could fix almost anything.
Annette lived a remarkably healthy life and held a deep, abiding faith in both God’s provision and the healing gifts found in His creation. Knowledgeable in traditional, time-honored ways of care, she generously shared those gifts with anyone in need. In the end, the Lord, in His mercy, called her home quickly and gently. In her final days, our family is deeply grateful for the love and compassion shown by the Pappus House in Thomasville, whose care reflected God’s grace.

Annette’s life was a testimony of love, faith, strength, and devotion. She also believed in “Godwinks” which she thought of as those gentle, divine reminders of God’s presence in our daily lives. The next time family or friends experience an unexpected blessing or moment of perfect timing, may they smile and know it could be Annette, sending a little reminder of love from heaven.

In keeping with her quiet and private nature, Annette did not wish to have a funeral or memorial service. She will be cremated and laid to rest with Barry’s ashes at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to: Pappus House, 66 Big Mount Road, Thomasville, PA 17364.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord and reunited with Barry, forever held in God’s eternal care. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
