Anna Marie Romeo passed peacefully on September 20, 2016, at the Brethren Home Community, New Oxford. She was 98 years old.
Anna was born on January 30, 1918, in the small coal mining town of Twin Rocks, Pa. She was a true coal miner's daughter. Her late parents, Angelo and Antonia Conzo immigrated from Italy. Anna was married to the late Joseph A. Romeo for 68 years.
Anna is survived by her three daughters, Toni Burns and her husband Chris of Hanover, JoAnn Tinney and her husband Mark of Freeman, Mo., and Donna Romeo and her husband Celso Martinez of McKinney, Texas; three grandchildren, Antonia Flynn (husband Ryan) and Griffin Burns of Los Angeles, Calif., and Ariana Romeo of McKinney, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Isadora and Loretta Flynn.
Anna was predeceased by her sister, Carmela DaPra; and four brothers, Dan, Nick, Ben and Pat Conzo.
Anna was a dynamo of a woman: hard-working, quick-witted, generous of spirit. She knew no stranger. Her home and table were open to all. How she loved to feed her family, friends and frequent stranger! Anna's love of family is the legacy she leaves.
Anna had various jobs over the course of her lifetime, but her greatest joy was working alongside her husband 'Joe' at their business, The Art Shop, in Cocoa Beach, Fla., for thirty years.
The family would like to thank the Brethren Home Community and the VNA Hospice 'angels' who took Anna under their wings with love and unbounded care.
A memorial service will be held in the spring followed by an inurnment at Arlington National Cemetery where Anna will unite with her beloved 'Joe'.
