Anna Mae (Markel) Messinger, 96, passed Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at The Brethren Home Community.  She was the wife of the late Kenneth R. Messinger, who passed August 12, 1991.

Mae was born April 18, 1928, in Spring Grove, the daughter of the late Ralph J. and Lucy (Ream) Markel.

Mae was a life-time member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Spring Grove, a 1943 graduate of Spring Grove High School, and a member of the Spring Grove Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

Mae is survived by a son, Stephen A. Messinger and his wife Linda of Hanover, a daughter, Cynthia A. Messersmith and her husband Richard of Spring Grove, five grandchildren, Katie, Angela, Nicole, Kristin and Alison, and 11 great grandchildren.  She was predeceased by a brother, Edward Markel and four sisters, Helen Linebaugh, Gladys Nichol, Ruby Thoman and Mary Amspacher.
