Ralph E. Burgard

Ralph E. Burgard, founder of Pumpkin Hill, 73, of East Berlin, died Saturday, September 30, 2017, at The Brethren Home Community.  He was the husband of Judy D. (Wolf) Burgard, his wife of 53 years.

Ralph was born January 30, 1944, in East Berlin, the son of the late Charles and Gretna (Crowl) Burgard.

Ralph was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in East Berlin, where he served on church council, and served in the U.S. Army National Guard.  He was also a member of Liberty Fire Company #1, East Berlin, East Berlin V.F.W., and AARP in New Oxford.  Ralph was a life-long farmer, and was employed with Rutter’s Dairy for 43 years.

In addition to his wife Judy, Ralph is survived by a son, Gary L. Burgard and his wife Renee of East Berlin, two grandchildren, Lindsey Burgard and Landen Burgard, and a sister, Mary Peters of Biglerville.  He was predeceased by a son, Michael R. Burgard.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2017, at 11 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 117 W. King St, East Berlin, with his pastor, Rev. George Scott officiating.  Burial will be in East Berlin Union Cemetery.  A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 306 Harrisburg St, East Berlin, and on Thursday at the church from 10 AM until the time of the service.  Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, PO Box 1016, East Berlin, PA  17316.  Memories may be shared at www.feiserfuneralhome.com.
