R. Joseph Lawrence

R. Joseph Lawrence, 94, died Monday, October 29, 2018, at his residence.  He was the husband of Dolores M. (Powell) Lawrence, his wife of 71 years.

Joe was born February 19, 1924, in Edgegrove, the son of the late Marie Lawrence.

Joe was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Hanover, and retired from Mason Dixon.  He was also a member of the NRA, Teamsters Union, Hanover Moose, Special Police in East Berlin and Reading Township, and the Adams County Law Enforcement Association, where he was a firearms instructor.  Joe won many trophies and awards for pistol and rifle sharpshooting, and he played steel guitar in local bands.

In addition to his wife Dolores, Joe is survived by his children, Linda D. Kopf and her husband Raymond of Lancaster, Diane P. Myers and her husband Robert of Dover, Thomas A. Lawrence and his wife Ligia of Tampa, FL, and Michele M. Duncan and her husband Michael of York Haven, ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018, at 11 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 220 3rd St, Hanover, with Rev. Michael P. Reid II officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  A viewing will be held at the church on Friday from 10 AM until the time of mass.  Memorial contributions may be made to the church.  Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 306 Harrisburg St, East Berlin, is in charge of arrangements.  Memories may be shared at www.feiserfuneralhome.com.
