Louise D. Thomas, 93, of Gettysburg, died Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Transitions Healthcare. She was the wife of the late Franklin W. Thomas, Sr, who died December 19, 1994.
Louise was born May 14, 1924, in Naples, Italy, the daughter of the late Giovanni and Pasqualina DeAngelis.
Louise was a member of Great Conewago Presbyterian Church in Gettysburg, and was a World War II bride, coming to the U.S. after marrying Frank in 1947. She was proud to become a U.S. citizen in 1957, and had fond memories of the Statue of Liberty and Elis Island. She worked for many years as a cook at Lincoln Logs on Rt. 30 in Gettysburg.
Louise is survived by a son, Franklin W. Thomas, Jr, of Gettysburg, a brother, Tony DeAngelis of Italy, a sister-in-law, Delores Shupe of Gettysburg, two brothers-in-law, Edgar Thomas and his wife Maryann of Hanover, and John Cangelosi of Spring Grove, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Janet M. Thomas, three sisters, Anna Navarra, Edna Horner, and Enza Zook, and two brothers, Gabriel and Joe DeAngelis.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at 1 PM, at the Great Conewago Presbyterian Church, 174 Red Bridge Rd, Gettysburg, with Rev. Candace Nyiri officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held at the church on Wednesday from 12 PM until the time of the service.
