Lawrence E. “Larry” Aumen, Sr, 85, of Abbottstown, died Monday, October 15, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Nancy J. (Myers) Aumen, his wife of 62 years.

Larry was born August 6, 1933, in Hanover, the son of the late Bernard F. and Bertha M. (Smith) Aumen.

Larry was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, New Oxford where he served as an usher and Eucharistic Minister.  He started the Immaculate Conception Youth Football Team, and coached the New Oxford Little League Baseball team for many years. Larry was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U.S. Air Force, and a 4th degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus Council 871 “Father Cyril J. Allwein Assembly” 4th Degree of Hanover. Larry worked as an Industrial Mechanic for 36 years with Alloy Rods (now ESAB) in Hanover. He was a life member of the McSherrystown Home Association, and New Oxford Social and Athletic Club. Larry was a pack leader for the Boy Scout Troop #125, New Oxford, and he was an outdoor enthusiast, and he enjoyed family camping, fishing, and hunting outings. Larry’s great joy was to go to his favorite cabin in the mountains.

In addition to his wife Nancy, Larry is survived by a daughter, Catherine R. Mundorff and her husband Robert of New Oxford, a daughter, Pamela E. Zortman and her husband Dale of Thomasville, a son, Nicholas E. Aumen and his wife Peggy of York Springs, a daughter, Michelle M. Noel and her husband Tom of Sewickly, a daughter, Denise C. Goulden of New Oxford, a son, Paul J. Aumen and his wife Tisa of New Oxford, a son, Lawrence E. Aumen, Jr. and his wife Diana of Elverson, 23 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, two brothers, Thomas Aumen and his wife Brigetta of Hamilton, OH, and Adrian Aumen and his wife Leslie of Spring Grove, and three sisters, Sister Paula Mary Aumen of Dallas, Bertha A. Kuhn of Abbottstown, and Charlotte Hull of York New Salem. He was predeceased by a grandson Joshua Aumen, three brothers, Bernard Aumen Jr, Father Paul Aumen, and Philip Aumen, two sisters, Estella Gebhart and Teresa DelRosa, and a son-in-law, Dan Goulden.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 11 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 106 Carlisle St., New Oxford, with Rev. Joseph Gotwalt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Military rites will be provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. A viewing will be held at the Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincolnway West, New Oxford, on Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 6-8 PM. The viewing will conclude with a rosary service.
