Hector M. Miranda Sr, 92, went to his enteral rest on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Carmen M. (Vega) Miranda, his wife of 70 years.
Hector was born September 6, 1925, in Santurce, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Francisco and Maria (Ocasio) Miranda.
Hector was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbottstown, retired from the U.S. Air Force where he received the bronze star during the Vietnam War, and was an avid baseball fan, especially the New York Yankees.
In addition to his wife Carmen, Hector is survived by his children, Ivonne A. Gabrielson and her husband Charles of Abbottstown, Hector M. Miranda Jr, and his wife Lillian of Westley Chapel, FL, and Maria del Carmen Miranda of East Berlin, three grandchildren, Chad Gabrielson, Maribel Davis, and Anthony Miranda, and two great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers and a sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 11 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 6084 W. Canal Rd, Abbottstown, with Rev. Timothy D. Marcoe officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held at the church on Saturday, from 10 AM until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
