George King Obituary

George C. King, 92, died Friday, December 21, 2018, at his residence.  He was the husband of the late Gladys I. (Wildasin) King, who died October 29, 1987, and the companion of the late Sandra A. Slagle, who died January 30, 2018.

George was born August 11, 1926, in Hunterstown, the son of the late William C. and Kathryn S. (Little) King.

George served in the U.S. Army during WWII, where he got to ring the bell at the leaning tower of Pisa following the war, and he retired from Emeco after more than 40 years of service.  He managed the New Oxford team in the South Penn Baseball League, where they won a championship in 1967, and played steel guitar and managed the County Travelers Band and the Trail Dust Band.  He was a life member of the Hanover V.F.W., the New Oxford Social & Athletic Club, and SAVES, and was a member of the Hanover AMVETS and the Hanover American Legion.

George is survived by his children, Ron L. King and his wife Teresa of New Oxford, Barbara J. Mitchem and her husband Kenneth of Kings Mountain, NC, and Randy K. King and his wife Kimberly of Hanover, two stepsons, Garry E. Watson of Hanover, and Kenneth E. Watson of Dover, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, three great great grandsons, two brothers, Jake King and John King, both of Hunterstown, and a sister, Shirley Rudisill of Gettysburg.  He was predeceased by a daughter, Jane Neiderer, a granddaughter, Nicole Peake, a brother, Melvin King, and two sister, Ruth Miller and Nancy Starner.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 2 PM, at the Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford, with Rev. Elizabeth D. George officiating.  Burial will be in the Great Conewago Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Gettysburg.  A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 1 PM until the time of the service.  Memorial contributions may be St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN  38105.  Memories may be shared at www.feiserfuneralhome.com.
