Eileen A. Berlan

Eileen A. Berlan, 75, entered into God’s eternal care on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at her home after a long battle with MS.  She was the wife of Richard P. Berlan, her husband of 55 years.

Eileen was born July 11, 1942, in Hanover, the daughter of the late Russell and Caroline (Strausbaugh) Shoemaker.

Eileen was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Oxford, and she was formerly employed at G.C. Murphy in Hanover, Hanover Shoe, BMY in York, and AMP in East Berlin.

In addition to her beloved husband Richard, Eileen is survived by two children, Barbara Berlan of Frost Proof, FL, and Patrick H. Berlan of Waynesburg, three granddaughters, Melisa Hockensmith and Amanda Hockensmith, both of OH, and Haven Berlan of New Oxford, three grandsons, Michael Hockensmith of OH, Stephen Hall of New Oxford, and Sky Berlan of Hanover, a great granddaughter, Aleahya Berlan of New Oxford, two sisters, Josephine Klinedinst of Hanover, and her twin sister, Ellen McWilliams of New Oxford, three sisters-in-law, Ruth Shoemaker of New Oxford, Sylvia Shoemaker of East Berlin, and Gloria Shoemaker of Hanover, and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Berwager and Esther Leppo, and four brothers, Joseph, Felix, Russell and Fabian Shoemaker.  Her husband was her special caregiver with loving care for many years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at 10 AM, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 106 Carlisle St, New Oxford, with Re. Michael Letteer officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  A viewing will be held on Monday from 6-8 PM at the Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford.  Memories may be shared at www.feiserfuneralhome.com.
