David Bowers Obituary

David J. Bowers, 81, entered into God’s eternal care on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at The Brethren Home Community in New Oxford.  He was the husband of Darlene M. (Dunton) Bowers, his wife of 59 years.

David was born February 7, 1936, in Allentown, the son of the late Norman E. and Lillian M. (Bergstresser) Bowers.

David served in the U.S. Marine Corps aboard the U.S.S. Wasp, and he retired from Mack Trucks after 33 years.  He enjoyed golf, woodworking, and building and flying radio controlled airplanes.  As a member of the Carolina Craftsmen, he displayed his work at juried shows.

In addition to his wife Darlene, David is survived by a son, Michael Bowers and his wife Kathy of Emmaus, a daughter, Lisa J. Evans and her husband Gerry of Palmerton, and four grandchildren, Adam Bowers of Seattle, WA, Laura Bowers of New York City, Jacob Evans of Palmerton, and Brandon Bowers of Camp Lejeune, NC.  He was predeceased by a son, Jeffrey Bowers.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11 AM, at The Nicarry Meeting House of The Brethren Home Community, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, with Rev. Linda Titzell officiating.  The family will receive friends at the meeting house on Saturday, from 10 AM until the time of the service.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund of The Brethren Home Community.  Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford, is in charge of arrangements.  Memories may be shared at www.feiserfuneralhome.com.
