Brian Challenger, 75, passed Thursday, January 10, 2019, at his residence. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Smith) Challenger, his wife of 23 years.
Brian was born April 21, 1943, in Manchester, England, the son of the late Joseph and Margaret Challenger.
Brian actively served Black Rock Church of The Brethren in Glenville, and was a machinist for 50 years. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid Manchester United fan.
In addition to his wife Pat, Brian is survived by a son, John J. Challenger and his wife Susan of Hampstead, a daughter, Jennifer E. Challenger of Pittsburgh, PA, two grandchildren, Beatrice Paskewitz and her husband Michael, and Victoria Challenger and her significant other, Chris Simmons, a great grandson, Owen M. Paskewitz, a nephew, Rodney Pickup and his wife Emily, numerous cousins from Manchester, England, and special friend and colleague, Joe Engel and his wife Theresa of Frederick.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at 11 AM at Black Rock Church of The Brethren, 3864 Glenville Rd, Glenville, with Pastor Brandon Grady officiating. A viewing will be held at the church on Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Black Rock Church of The Brethren, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St, Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105, or Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, 1800 Orleans St, Baltimore, MD 21287, or the Good Samaritan Fund of The Brethren Home Community, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, PA 17350.
