Audrey Wildasin Obituary

Audrey Lorraine (Leib) Wildasin, 88, died Monday, April 23, 2018, at The Brethren Home Community.  She was the wife of the late Blaine S. “Bud” Wildasin, who died July 31, 1995.

Lorraine was born May 23, 1929, in Abbottstown, the daughter of the late Hillard A. “Dan” and Mary E. (Stambaugh) Leib.  She was raised by her maternal grandmother, Gertie E. (Wolf) Stambaugh.

Lorraine was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Abbottstown, was a 1947 graduate of East Berlin High School, and was employed for 25 years at the Hanover Country Club, and later worked at both Patty & John’s Restaurant and the Altland House.  Lorraine lived for 75 years in the home built for her and her grandmother Gertie on the corner of the Stambaugh family farm after the accidental death of her grandfather in 1932.  After their marriage, she and Bud continued to live with Gertie, whom Lorraine cared for a number of years until her death in 1964.  Lorraine also cared for her aunt, Emma Beam, and later for many years for her mother, Mary Leib.  While she spent the last eight years at the Brethren Home Community, and was fortunate enough to be treated like family by the loving and caring staff, she still considered herself to be a lifelong resident of Abbottstown.  She always put her family first, and sacrificed everything for them.  They will miss her greatly.

Lorraine is survived by a daughter, Beverly D. Strickler and her husband Dennis of Abbottstown, a son, Daniel F. Wildasin and his wife Lisa of Hanover, five grandchildren, Doug Flickinger and his wife Lea of Spring Grove, David Flickinger and his wife Mikel of Overland Park, KS, Dustin Flickinger and his fiance Jayme Paschall of Littlestown, Zoe Wildasin of Brooklyn, NY, and Colby Wildasin of Greenville, NC, four great grandchildren, Hali Grodzki and her husband Martin of Athens, GA, Chase Flickinger of Millersville, and Jackson Flickinger and Andrew Flickinger, both of Overland Park, KS, and many extended family members including her special cousin, Mary Mylin and her husband Richard of York.  She was predeceased by her beloved infant son, Douglas Blaine, and a brother, Allen “Larry” Leib.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at 11:30 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 100 E. Water St, Abbottstown, with her pastor, Rev. Shawn Berkebile officiating.  Lorraine will be laid to rest next to her husband Bud and son Douglas in the church cemetery.  A viewing will be held at the church on Saturday from 10:30 AM until the time of the service.  Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John’s Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.  Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford, is in charge of arrangements.  Memories may be shared at www.feiserfuneralhome.com.
