Lorne M. Lefever, 76, of New Oxford, passed away at The Brethren Home Community on July 11, 2017 at 3:00 AM.

Lorne was born October 27, 1940 in Emigsville, York County, PA, to the late Charles & Deulah (Zeigler) Lefever.

Lorne is survived by his wife, Janet, to whom he shared 57 years of marriage on July 1, 2017.  In addition to his wife, Lorne is survived by his son Kyle and wife Lisa of Abbottstown, son Brian and his wife Layle of New Oxford, daughter Renee Lefever of Richmond, VA, three granddaughters, Scarlett McGary and husband Brad of Washington Boro, 1st Lt. Whitney Noel (USMC) based in Jacksonville, NC, and Aimee Lefever of New Oxford, a grandson, Clint Lefever of Abbottstown, three great grandchildren, Bronson and Dean McGary of Washington Boro, and Saoirse Lefever of Abbottstown, a brother, Sylvan of Manchester, PA, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Lorne was predeceased by brothers Randal Zeigler, Ivan, Mahlon and Richard Lefever, and a sister, Catherine Harrison.

Lorne graduated in 1958 from Spring Grove High School.  He worked 25 years at Bethlehem Steel.  He was a member and three term president of the USWA Local 3139 Steel Workers Union.  Lorne was a founding member and president of USWA District 7 Credit Union.  He was a former member of the Hanover Moose and Hanover Elks Social Clubs, and a life member of the New Oxford Social & Athletic Club.  He enjoyed attending antique tractor and steam engine shows.  He was a life member of the Windsor Early American Steam Engine and Old Equipment Society, as well as a member of the Menges Mills Historic Horse, Steam and Gas Association.  Lorne enjoyed attending car, truck and tractor auctions, and especially the time spent with his friends at Redding’s Auction in Gettysburg.

Lorne was a good man and always looked out for the welfare of his family.  Lorne was a spiritual Christian man who loved God and believed the world was His church.  He will be sadly missed by all of us.  He was proud of all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

At Lorne’s request, there will be no viewing or public service.  Contributions in Lorne’s name may be made to the Salvation Army, 50 E. King St, York, PA  17401, or the American Lung Association, 3001 Gettysburg Rd, Camp Hill, PA  17011, or the American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA  17603, or the American Diabetes Association, 3544 N.
