Betty Jane (Blevins) Ensor

Betty Jane (Blevins) Ensor, 77, of York Springs, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, June 18, 2017 at Hanover Hospital.

Betty was the daughter of the late Bron and Ethel (Torbert) Blevins.  She married her friend and love, Edward E. Ensor, in January 1958, who preceded her in death in 1991.

Betty was employed by the Bermudian Springs School District as an instructional aide for 24 years.  She was a life member of the Hampton Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary where she volunteered tirelessly.  She attended Inwood Family Worship Center in Inwood, WV.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Julie A. Weakley and her husband Jim, and Laurie L. E. Funt and her husband Brad, her son, Eric E. Ensor and his wife Karen, five grandchildren, Tara Wilson and her husband Tim, Dylan Altland, Alexis Altland, Holly Beh and her husband Brandon, and Eddie Ensor, two great grandchildren, Jack and Sydney Wilson, and her beloved companion, Clarence “Eddie” Lahman, Sr.  Betty was the youngest of nine siblings.  Surviving are Mary Bortner, Dale Blevins and Merle Blevins.  She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth Blevins, Edna Blevins and Odessa Lighty, and two brothers, Raymond Blevins and Paul Blevins.

Betty will be most remembered as a women that could preserve just about anything, from tomatoes to watermelon rinds, which she pickled, one of her favorites.  She loved to entertain family and friends and was known to lend a hand wherever she was needed.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017, at 10:30 AM at the Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford, with Rev. Jeffrey Reaver officiating.  Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Gettysburg.  Serving as pallbearers will be Dylan Altland, Eddie Ensor, Tim Wilson, Brian Blevins, Greg Ensor, and Robert Davis.  A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 9 AM until the time of the service.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hampton Fire Company, 5371 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, PA  17350 or to the American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA  17603.  Memories may be shared at www.feiserfuneralhome.com.
